Durante o período de temperaturas baixas, cada vez mais pessoas buscam o aconchego de uma lareira que, além de aquecer, ainda confere um charme especial a qualquer ambiente. Apesar da beleza, um investimento como esse normalmente traz problemas de espaço, sujeira e segurança. A lareira a GLP é uma alternativa que reduz todos esses impasses.
A instalação é relativamente simples, exigindo apenas um ponto de gás, como o de um fogão. O tubo de condução do GLP até esse ponto pode passar sob o piso ou através de paredes e a obra deve ser realizada conforme normas específicas da ABNT (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas) e Instruções Técnicas do Corpo de Bombeiros, que são aspectos fundamentais para a segurança do sistema.
Disponível em modelos com design contemporâneo e prático, a lareira alimentada por GLP aquece o ambiente sem gerar fumaça nem sujeira. Além disso, o controle da chama é mais simples do que em uma lareira com lenha. Outro ponto é que o GLP também é mais vantajoso e eficiente do que as lareiras a etanol e elétricas no que diz respeito à capacidade máxima de aquecimento. Em relação à manutenção, é recomendada apenas uma limpeza anual.
A lareira a GLP destaca-se ainda em termos ambientais e de saúde. Para se ter uma ideia, seria necessária a derrubada de cerca de 10 árvores, em média, para se obter o mesmo poder calorífico de um botijão de 13 kg. Vale lembrar que a queima da lenha em ambientes fechados pode provocar ou intensificar problemas de saúde, como asma, alergia, bronquite e pneumonia, já que a fumaça da madeira gera monóxido de carbono, altamente perigoso. As lareiras a gás são bem mais vantajosas nesse aspecto, pois o GLP é um combustível mais limpo e não produz os mesmos resíduos tóxicos provocados pelo uso da lenha e sua queima é isenta de monóxido de carbono.
O uso da madeira em ambientes fechados pode provocar sérios problemas de saúde às pessoas, por conta da inalação de gases tóxicos. De acordo com a OMS (Organização Mundial de Saúde), a poluição causada pela lenha ou carvão dentro de residências ou ambientes fechados traz risco de vida.
Modelos mais modernos de lareiras a gás saem de fábrica com sistemas inteligentes, oferecendo mais segurança ao consumidor. Algumas delas são fabricadas com uma válvula que corta o fornecimento de gás caso a chama se apague. Outro dispositivo mede a quantidade de gás carbônico no ambiente e faz com que a lareira seja desligada automaticamente caso o ar fique impróprio para a respiração.
